 Why Attend:

But why is it so important for women to attend Hire Women Week? We spoke to women who have experienced firsthand the challenges of job loss and career setbacks, and they shared what it’s really like to be a woman in the job market right now.

At Lady Bird Talent, we host frequent resume and LinkedIn workshops free to our community and have seen a big surge in women joining us after getting laid off. More attendees than we like to count said the layoffs at their company disproportionately hit women and BIPOC team members. Multiple women told us that their team exclusively cut jobs held by women.

This difficult economic climate is being felt in many fields, but it has been especially pronounced in the tech and startup industries. These layoffs have left many women feeling uncertain about their career paths and their ability to succeed in the workforce. Hire Women Week provides a supportive environment for women to connect with other professionals, learn new skills, and gain the confidence they need to continue pursuing their career goals.

Countless women have also been let go during parental leave, which can be an especially devastating experience. The stress and uncertainty of losing a job, combined with the challenges of caring for a newborn, can be overwhelming. Hire Women Week offers a space where women can connect with other mothers who have experienced similar challenges and find support from a community of professionals who understand their struggles.

But it’s not just about job loss – many women have also lost their self-esteem due to setbacks in their careers. Whether it’s a missed promotion or a project that didn’t go as planned, setbacks can take a toll on our confidence and motivation. Hire Women Week provides women with access to mentors and role models who can help them regain their confidence and develop strategies for success.

 What to Expect:

At Hire Women Week, attendees can expect a variety of valuable resources and networking opportunities.

Monday, April 24th through Wednesday, April 26th, speaker presentations are designed for professional women, managers, and change-makers, and offer insights into the latest trends and best practices in applying in the tech and startup industries. Interactive meetings with industry leaders provide a chance to connect with influential professionals and gain insights into the hiring process.

You asked for it and we’re delivering! On Thursday, April 27, mentor matchmaking is an opportunity for attendees to connect with experienced professionals who can offer guidance and support.

Dial in Friday, April 28th for the opportunity to connect with fellow attendees. We’ll be gathering in a woman-founded event platform called Toucan which is purposefully designed to allow you to have small group conversations and build meaningful relationships.

The virtual networking fair and IRL meetups in select cities surrounding Hire Women Week provide valuable opportunities to connect with other professionals and build relationships that can advance your career.

But perhaps the most important aspect of Hire Women Week is the sense of community and support that it provides. Women who attend this event are surrounded by other professionals who understand their challenges and can offer support, advice, and encouragement. It’s a space where women can feel empowered, inspired, and connected to a community of like-minded professionals.

In today’s competitive job market, it’s more important than ever for women to access the resources and support they need to succeed. Hire Women Week provides a unique opportunity for women in the tech and startup industries to connect with other professionals, gain valuable insights, and access diverse workforces. Whether you’re facing job loss, setbacks in your career, or simply looking for new opportunities and connections, Hire Women Week is an event that you won’t want to miss. Join us this year and be a part of a community that is committed to empowering women to succeed in the tech and startup industries.
